All-American Cookies

Hi again,
Friday is baking day at my house and today Chloe and I made some yummy cookies. I found them in a Jamie Oliver magazine; the American issue. Sweet and a bit salty. Genius.

100g butter
75g caster sugar
100g brown sugar
1tsp vanilla
150g crunchy peanut butter
200g plain flour
11/2 tsp baking powder
50g chocolate

1. Beat sugars and butter till light and creamy. Add vanilla and peanut butter until well combined. Mix in egg. Fold in flour and baking powder. Stir in chocolate.

Licking spoons optional!

2. Spoon the dough onto clingwrap and roll into sausage. Place in fridge until cooled.

3. Now preheat the oven to 170C. Cut dough into 2cm discs and place on tray with space for expansion. Bake for 10 minutes until golden but still soft. This will keep them chewy. Carefully transfer to wire rack to cool.

VoilĂ ! Cookies to enjoy!

Well, the Canberra black opal cup is coming up, and I have decided to really frock up. And enter fashions on the field... First prize is a trip to Dubai.

I have got all my patterns ready and bought the fabric.

The fabric

The dress

The hat

I will keep you updated! I need to make a etoile to check it will fit first.... Am I a genius or just crazy? Wait, don't answer that.

The sweetest little jump suit

I just love the Oliver + s patterns. They are so well made and have such easy to follow instructions.

I made the jump suit for Chloe last weekend.

Finishing the cute red polka dots top.

Attaching the pants

Chloe checking out the final product. Pretty good and only took 2 and a half hours!

In my garden

Hello, managing to catch a few minutes to blog between Chloe's nap and before I start sewing her a new playsuit. I can't wait to until Oliver + s make adult patterns... Failing that, I may have to think back to fashion school and make my own...

Anyway, back to what I was going to blog about! Since moving into our own house, we have been trying to grow vegies. The first lot failed, but things seem to be going much better now...

Cant wait till we can eat these yummy Zucchinis

Soon we will have plenty of tomatoes, and will have to make sauces and jams...

Haven't tried to grow passionfruit before, so will see how these go. We also have beetroot, potatoes, chilli, capsicum, strawberries and more.

Why is homegrown always so much better!

Cupcakes and a lesson

Today I came up with a great idea, I was going to make cupcakes for morning tea. Apple crumble cupcakes to be exact.

So I set out and made the batter,

Cut four granny smith apples.

Then I read on. I had to COOK the apples in butter and cinnamon first!

Chloe helped me put the crumble on

Then cooked them for 30 minutes in the oven. Finished product?

So today I learned a lesson. Read the WHOLE recipe, as your morning tea may wind up lunch!

My day today

Today I had a rare half day off without Chloe! I got to have a nap today, first one in months. After my rest I got to do some sewing... I made a lovely dress for Chloe with some fabric i have had saved for a while. Now, I would love to show you a picture of the dress I made, but when I tried it on her, it took 5 seconds to get it dirty! So I will wash dry and iron it, then do a seperate blog on it and the pattern etc. I do have a photo of the fabric used to show you in the mean time:

Pink iceblocks

Another beautiful, hot, hot, hot day in Canberra. Was about 40 degrees today and maybe 50 in the car with no airconditioning!

We had dinner outside on our new BBQ, followed by pink splices. This was about 8pm still warm enough for undies!

My brand new ad came out in homespun last week, did you see me up the back?

If you want to subscribe to Tail Feathers by the beautiful Natalie Lymer of Cinderberry Stitches, get in quick before they all sell out!

Hope you had a great weekend!
